Calories and protein on one scale: what you eat on one side, what you burn on the other, and every number kept on your own phone.
About
Kefe works out a daily calorie budget from what you actually burn: a resting base, the hours you spend working, your workouts and the steps you walk. Log a meal and the budget updates; finish a shift on your feet and it grows.
The base comes from the Mifflin–St Jeor equation, work and sport from the 2024 Compendium of Physical Activities, and walking from your steps without the ones already counted at work or in a workout. Once you have a few weeks of weigh-ins, Kefe calibrates the base to what your body really did.
Everything lives on your device. There is no account to make, no server of ours to send anything to, and no advertising or analytics of any kind.

What leaves your phone
Almost nothing, and only for reasons you can see:
Open Food Facts receives only the barcode number when you scan a product that is not already in your library.
Apple Health or Health Connect receives the calories, protein, carbs and fat you log, if you turn writing on.
Your own iCloud account (iPhone) holds a copy of your library and appearance settings, if you turn that backup on. Your food log, weight and Health data are never written there.
Your own Google account (Android) holds Android’s device backup of Kefe, if device backup is on. Health Connect data is never part of it.
Apple or Google Play handle the purchase; we never see your payment details.
Files you export yourself go wherever you send them.
That is the complete list. Kefe has no analytics, no advertising identifier and no crash reporting service. On iPhone it is built entirely on Apple's own frameworks; on Android, barcodes are read on the phone with the open-source ZXing library.
