DocuPair Data and Security

Identity documents are sensitive, so this page says plainly where DocuPair keeps them, how they are protected and what leaves your device.

Where your data lives

Everything stays in DocuPair's private storage on your phone. There is no account and no server of ours, so there is nothing to breach on our side and nothing we can hand over.

How it is protected

Page images, and the name, notes and recognised text of each document, are encrypted by the app with AES-256-GCM. The key is random, stored only in wrapped form, and protected by a key held in the Android Keystore that never leaves the device's secure hardware or system service. On top of that, Android encrypts the phone's storage. The app is excluded from Google cloud backup and device transfer.

App lock

Optionally, DocuPair asks for your biometrics or device passcode each time it opens or returns from the background, and hides its contents in the app switcher.

While the lock is on, Android also blocks screenshots and screen recording of the app.

What leaves your device

Permissions the app asks for

DocuPair does not ask for contacts, location, microphone, calendar or access to all your photos.

Sharing copies safely

Add a watermark that names the recipient and the purpose, protect the PDF with a password and send the password by another route. Delete the copy from the receiving app's downloads when you no longer need it.

If you lose your phone

Your documents are protected by your phone's lock screen, by the encryption of your phone and, if you turned it on, by the app lock. Use your platform's find-and-erase features to wipe the phone if needed.

Reporting a security issue

If you find a security problem, please write to support@unselstudio.app before making it public, and we will respond as quickly as we can. DocuPair has not been through an independent security audit.
