Who is responsible
DocuPair is developed by Unsel Studio, a trading name of Unsel Consultancy Ltd. For any privacy question or request, contact support@unselstudio.app.
Data stored on your device
Everything you scan or enter is stored on your device, in the app's private storage:
- Page images (the original photo of each page and the corner and filter settings you chose).
- Document names, notes, tags, categories, expiry dates and the layout you chose for ID cards.
- The text recognised in your scans, used only for searching your own documents.
- App preferences (theme, accent colour, app lock and reminder switches).
- Information needed to manage the free trial and the purchase (see Purchases).
None of this is transmitted to us. We operate no server that could receive it and have no way to see it.
No accounts, no ads, no tracking
DocuPair needs no registration and collects no identity data such as your name or e-mail address. The app contains no advertising and no analytics, crash-reporting or tracking software of ours or of other companies, and it builds no profile of you. The one exception is a technical component from Google, described under Network.
Text and passport recognition
Text in your scans, and the machine-readable zone of a passport, is recognised on your phone with Google's ML Kit text recognition. The recognition model is bundled with the app and runs on the device; no image or text is sent to us or to Google.
Permissions
- Camera: to scan documents. Pictures are processed on your device.
- Photos: only pictures you choose to import, through the system picker. DocuPair does not get access to your whole library.
- Notifications: optional local reminders before an ID or passport expires. They are created on your device; DocuPair has no push server. A reminder contains the document's name and expiry date.
Biometrics / screen lock: used only if you turn on the app lock. The system checks your fingerprint, face or PIN; DocuPair never receives biometric data.
Purchases and the free trial
DocuPair is free to download with a 7-day trial; after that a single one-time purchase unlocks scanning new documents. The purchase is handled entirely by Google Play Billing; we never receive your name, payment card or billing details. The app only receives Google's confirmation of the purchase.
The start of the trial is taken from the time the app was installed and from a date the app stores in its private storage and in Google Play services' Block Store, so that reinstalling the app does not restart the trial. Google may back this single date up to your Google account under Google's own privacy policy. The app has no access to your Google account.
Network
DocuPair itself makes no network requests. The connections that do exist are these: Google Play when you buy or restore the unlock, Google Play services when they keep the trial date (see Purchases), and the links in Settings that open our website in your browser.
Google ML Kit, the component that recognises text on your phone, also sends Google technical diagnostics: the device model and operating-system version, the app's name and version, an installation identifier that is not meant to identify you, performance figures, event types and error codes. It never sends your images or the text it recognises. This is described in Google's ML Kit data disclosure and cannot be switched off inside the app.
Backups
Your documents are excluded from Google cloud backup and from device-to-device transfer on purpose, so that they never leave your device. To move to a new phone, export the documents you need.
Files you export or share
PDF and JPEG files, with the watermark or password you choose, are created only when you ask for them and go where you send them. Once shared they are outside the app's control, and this policy no longer covers them. When you send a copy of an identity document, use the watermark and PDF password options.
Children's privacy
DocuPair is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children. The app collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
Retention and deletion
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. Deleted documents stay in the Trash for 30 days and are then removed for good; you can also empty the Trash yourself. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.
Your rights (UK GDPR, GDPR, KVKK)
Because your data is stored only on your device and under your control, you can access, export, correct and delete it directly in the app. For questions or requests under data-protection law, write to support@unselstudio.app.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the app evolves. The current version is always published at this address with its "last updated" date.
